Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe installs swift nesting boxes for species conservation species protection in Karlsruhe

29.11.2024
Sustainability, especially sustainable development, is a matter close to our hearts at Studierendenwerk. We are therefore committed to acting sustainably in all our areas of activity. This year, for example, we were able to actively support nature conservation and the protection of biodiversity in Karlsruhe during necessary maintenance work on our hall of residence at Bernhardstraße 11
in Karlsruhe to actively support nature conservation and the protection of biodiversity in Karlsruhe. By installing nesting boxes for swifts, we have implemented an important measure to protect this endangered bird species directly at our hall of residence. The boxes were professionally installed to provide the swifts with a safe nesting place. These birds are increasingly endangered due to the loss of nesting opportunities, which is why such initiatives are of great importance.

In recognition of this valuable work to support native bird species, the Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe was awarded the “Swallow-friendly house” plaque and certificate by the Naturschutzbund Karlsruhe (NABU group Karlsruhe e.V.). This step not only helps the swifts, but also sets another example for active nature conservation and the promotion of biodiversity in our city.
