Food waste monitoring at the Studierendenwerk

Sustainability is a matter close to our hearts at Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe.
Our concept for reducing food waste is currently being supplemented by food waste monitoring in the canteens and dining halls.

What exactly do we do?
We systematically record:
  • production waste
  • Returns from the food counter
  • Plate returns

Why are we doing this?
We use the data we collect to develop targeted measures to reduce food waste.

Where and when do we start?
All preparations, such as the procurement of hardware and software, have been completed.
Pforzheim: We will start in our facilities in Pforzheim as early as November 2024.
Karlsruhe: From December 2024, our canteens and cafeterias in Karlsruhe will follow successively.
